Community Nursing Services (CNS) is a registered Public Benefit Organization committed to improving the health and wellbeing of vulnerable, marginalized, and hard-to-reach communities in Kenya. Guided by our mission to provide households with quality healthcare and social empowerment, we develop and implement community-based programs that address the root causes of poor health. From mobile medical outreach to clean water initiatives and advocacy for social change, we work hand in hand with communities—ensuring families in low-income areas receive the care, knowledge, and support they need to thrive.

HOW WE WORK

Community Health Development

Community Advocacy Programs and Social Mobilization
Mother and Child Health (MCH) on Wheels
The main objective is to increase community access to preventive healthcare, that is, Family Planning, Antenatal Care, Nutritional Assessment, Immunization, and Health Education.
Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS)
The CLTS program aims to improve the sanitation status of the community by sensitizing each household to own and use latrine with proper hygiene thus greatly reducing sanitation related diseases.
Water Projects
The main aim is to increases access to clean and safe drinking water by drilling boreholes, sinking shallow wells, and protecting natural springs leading to reduced water related diseases.
Healthcare Workers Training
The main aim is to increase capacity, knowledge and skills of health workers through mentorship programs, focus group discussions, Continuous Medical Education (CME) and planned sensitization leading to standardized and improved healthcare service delivery.
Dental Program
It is a community oral health program aimed at increasing oral and dental healthcare services through free dental campaigns in schools and communities.
Change Projects
These are advocacy projects aimed at sensitizing the community to reduce harmful and retrogressive cultures which undermine their rights such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), child marriage, teenage pregnancies.
Social Mobilization
The programs aim to trigger the Community to self-led action and initiatives to support community development initiative promoting community health and well-being through forums, appraisals and intervention towards community driven solutions and promoting right-based approach.

Community Nursing Services has partnered with Rotary Doctors Sweden since 2014 to implement and strengthen community health programs. Their support has been instrumental in reaching vulnerable and remote communities with essential healthcare services, enhancing local capacity, and promoting sustainable health development across Kenya.
